The North American Thanksgiving is a holiday that is rich with history and tradition, yet you will find many versions of this holiday around the world, although they do not call it by the same name.

You can find the Moon Festival in the Orient, Pongal is south India and Succoth in Israel. Even if you already have beloved family traditions that you adhere to each and every year, this does not mean that you cannot create new Thanksgiving traditions in your family.

Another option for starting new Thanksgiving traditions is to put your turkey into the oven to roast early in the morning, waking everyone up with the wonderful aroma’s spreading through the house.

Once everyone is up, all can gather around the television to watch pro football games on Thanksgiving Day, leaving lots of time for basting that mouth watering turkey during the commercial breaks.

Unfortunately, not everyone has family near enough, or some have none at all to get together with for the holiday, so you may want to consider sharing the holiday with others.

Invite someone to share Thanksgiving with you and your family; perhaps someone that you know who does not have any family in the area. New Thanksgiving traditions can be about anything that is important to you and your family, yet sharing with others is truly what Thanksgiving is all about, thus making it a great new family tradition to start.

Hopefully, it is one that your children will continue in the future, when they have grown up and have their own families.
